Joshiah was born in Canada and came to the US with his parents Henry and Charlotte, settling first in Sandy Creek. There, he married Sarah J Webber about 1842. She was the daughter of Henry I and Chloe Webber of Sandy Creek. In 1850 Sarah's sister Phoebe lived with them. Josiah and Sarah had one child, Eugene born in 1851. Throughout most of the 1860s the family resided in Sandy Creek with Josiah working at carpentry and farming. The family moved to Pulaski between 1865 and 1870 when Josiah opened his own butcher shop in 1873 located on the corner of Jefferson and Mill Streets in Pulaski. In 1876 he sold out to A C Brown but continued as a meat cutter for some time.
Their son Eugene married Estella Marie Ingerson in June of 1868 at Cape Vincent, NY. Their first child was a daughter Ora, born Sept 26, 1870, a son Harry Randolph born Oct 1871 and Thomas Eugene in December 1873.. Eugene died accidentally by his own hand while trying to pull a gun by its muzzle into a boat. Following Eugene's death, Ora went to live with Josiah and Sarah remaining with them the rest of her life. Sarah died in late 1877 at the age of 48 after a number of years in frail health. Her mother Chloe died three years later. Josiah, Phoebe and Ora remained together until his death. The Sandy Creek News reported Josiah's death on Feb 8, 1894 "The funeral of Josiah Daily occurred Wednesday afternoon at his late residence on Furnace St."
