After a bravely fought four-year battle with cancer, Amos Larry Krusen, Jr. of Doylestown left us on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at his son's home surrounded by his family. He was 73.
He was born in the summer of 1943 at Doylestown Hospital to the late Amos Lawrence and Virginia Jesse (Allen) Krusen.
A dedicated, loving and proud father, Larry, as he was known, is survived by his sons, Craig Krusen (Sheila) of Glen Mills, Jason Krusen (Julie) of Chapin, SC. He was preceded in death by his son Brian Krusen.
A great-hearted grandfather of four, Larry adored his grandchildren, Kelsey, Makayla, Bennett, and Carter, and graced them with love and affection. Larry is survived by his brother William Hyndshaw, and sisters, Virginia Ceriani (Ray) and Patricia Yates (Kevin). He was preceded in death sister, Elaine (Krusen) Swallow of Turlock, CA and his brother, Jay Hyndshaw. His former wife and mother of his children, Linda Krusen, remained a close friend to Larry throughout his life.
Larry spent much of his childhood on the family farm in Newtown, Bucks County. After graduating from Council Rock High School in 1961, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years with the Blue Angels flight team as a Machinist Mate. During his time in the Navy, Larry was fortunate enough to travel the United States as well as meet both Vice President Johnson and President Kennedy.
After leaving the military, Larry worked at Marshall Maintenance, in Trenton, NJ. In the late 1960's Larry worked for A. E. Staley Mfg., before working for the Cartex Corporation during the 1980s. Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals would be where Larry spent the final twenty-two years of his career before retiring in 2002. During his tenure at Wyeth-Ayerst, Larry had the opportunity to travel around the globe, helping to set-up production facilities in Ireland, China, Mexico, the Philippines and Columbia, South America.
Larry was a member of the Newtown Masonic Lodge for more than 40 years, and was a Mason of the 32nd degree.. Larry was also an instrumental and founding member of the Blue Angels Alumni Association, an organization he served as President for more than ten years.
Larry had many passions, including hunting and fishing, guns, coin collecting, completing DIY projects at his home, as well as at the homes of his sons. Larry also enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles. Later in life, Larry became very interested in genealogy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM Tuesday, May 9th. and again from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, May 10th, at the SWARTZ GIVNISH FUNERAL HOME, 323 E. Washington Avenue, Newtown PA 18940 where the funeral Service will begin at 11 AM. Inurnment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
