June V. Jones Ashton, daughter of Frank and Nelly Jones, was born in Spanish Fork, UT on June 24, 1930 and died from age-related complications in Heber City, UT on March 6, 2017. She married Leslie Lowe Ashton on Dec. 27, 1950 and together they raised their three children in Heber City. June received her BS in Art from the University of Utah, a passion she pursued throughout her life. June and Lowe owned and operated several business in Heber Valley, including an oil distributorship company, Ashton Lumber and Hardware , The Hub Café and Gas Station and founded the Heber Creeper Rail Road. She enjoyed being with family, traveling, horseback riding, fishing and was a competitive bridge player. Survivors include brother Lynn Jones (JoAnn), children Suzan Ashton Holdaway (Ned) and Leslie Clark Ashton (Christy), 4 grandchildren, Jon Michael, Angie, Katie, Nicki and 4 great grandchildren, Candice, Brooklyn, Finn and Sawyer. She is preceded in death by Lowe and their son, Kurt Lowe Ashton, and brother's Paul and Ross Jones.
Those who knew June understand she lived life on her own terms. At June's request, there will be a celebration of life in early summer, a date to be announced. Like the many paintings she has shared throughout her life, Mom continued giving through her donation of her body to the University of Utah Medical School. Her wish to all her friends and family would be to consider body and organ donation in order to help serve humanity
