George Lager, 87, passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2005 at 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Chester T. French Memorial Chapel in Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico, under the direction of French Mortuary.

Mr. Lager was born March 15, 1918 to Emil and Ada Reppen Lager in Belle Plaine, Iowa.
He married Grace Irene Lager March 7, 1946. She preceded George in death on August 10, 2003.

Mr. Lager served in the US Army Signal Corps for 27 years before retiring as a First Lieutenant. After retiring from the Army and moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico he worked at Sparton SW until he retired in 1983.

After Irene's death, George moved to Abilene, Texas to be near his son and daughter-in-law. While living at Mesa Springs Retirement Village he made numerous friends. George enjoyed their monthly outings for good food and companionship.

George is survived by his son Robert "Bob" Lager and wife Terri Marcus of Abilene, Texas, a granddaughter Grace Lager and her husband Mike Pierro of St. Petersburg, Florida, nephew John Hagge and his wife Linda, along with their daughters Sara and Elspeth of Ames, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Big County, 4601 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79605.
