A daughter of Capt. Spier Spencer and his wife, Elizabeth Polk, Sarah was the wife of George Patrick Rice Wilson.

Married 14 Oct 1829 in Harrison County, Indiana, they were known to have been the parents of Joseph, James E., Mary Elizabeth, Joshua Thomas, George Spencer, and Rosa B. Wilson.

Sarah was enumerated with her husband in Harrison County on the 1850 census, and last appears there at Corydon on the 1880 census. Her son, Lt. George Spencer Wilson was in her household, and her daughter Rosa (Charles H.) Reader was enumerated with her family in the household listed just before her mother's.

Her obituary incorrectly states she was a sister of Capt. Spier Spencer, rather than his daughter. She was named as "my daughter Sarah Wilson, wife of George P. R. Wilson," in her mother's will dated 07 Nov 1847 at Corydon.
