Sylvia Louise Chesmore, age 79, of Gillette, Wyoming died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Legacy Living Center where she resided.

Sylvia was born June 22, 1937 to Louis E. and Ruth J. Johnson in Campbell County, SD. She graduated from Mobridge High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, Richard, with her best friend Edie who married his brother.

She married Richard Emerson Chesmore on June 22, 1958 in Mobridge, SD where they lived for another four years. After they married, they moved several times throughout Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota for Richard's work. They made Gillette their permanent home in 1975. Together they had five children; Rick, Randy, Kim, Rob, and Ron.

She enjoyed cheering on her kids at their sporting events and hosting all their friends at her home. Sylvia, lovingly known as "Slick" to her friends, was a social butterfly. Between baking cakes, selling Avon, and attending many softball tournaments, she brought the party with her wherever she went. She loved enjoying ice cold Michelob Lights at Towers on Friday nights with her many friends.

Beginning in 1982, and continuing through 2009, Sylvia was very involved with the local bowling association including the Wyoming Bowling Council, a state delegate for the Women's Bowling Board. She was inducted into the local Hall of Fame in 1995 for her years of Meritorious Service. She also participated in countless singles and doubles leagues.

Aside from all of this, her greatest joy in life was being a grandma. She made every birthday cake, babysat, gave the best gifts, and endless hugs and kisses. Her children, grandkids, and great-grandkids were the light of her life.

She is survived by her brother Bruce Johnson of Corvallis, OR; her children Rick (Kristen) of Bellvue, WA; Randy (Callie) of Gillette, WY; Kim (Carl) of Gillette, WY; Rob (Katie) of Denver, CO; and Ron (Patrice) of Lander, WY. Grandchildren Tara (Kellen) Gatlin, Zachary (Ashley) Ryan, Amanda (Ash) Hodge, Ryan Suhr, Emma Chesmore, Laura Chesmore, Dan Chesmore, Grace Chesmore, Louis Chesmore, Riley Chesmore, and Teaghan Chesmore. She is survived by 8 great-grandchildren; Aidan & Jackson, Brantley & Leyton, Kaylee & Sadie, Bentley & Ashtyn and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and granddaughter Alix Suhr.
