Kyle M. Barkley, 87, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 6:03 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2015 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Kyle was born October 6, 1927. He was a WWII Veteran, a school teacher at NCHS, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and Christian. He enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood, his numerous jobs that took him all over the country, but especially stories of working in the timber and teaching school.
Kyle is survived by his wife, Roberta O'Brien Barkley of Newton; their two children, Shelly (Terry) Miller of Wheeler, IL and Eric Barkley of Charleston, IL; two granddaughters, Monica Nicole Lutz of Newton, IL and Maddie Sue Barkley of Charleston, IL; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Nicholas Lutz of Newton, IL; brother, David and sister, Sharon, both of Charleston, IL.
Kyle was preceded in death by his parents, Durward and Faye Barkley and his sister Carolyn Barkley Mitchell.
