Betty Lee A. Cooper Jackson, 85, of Woodbridge, VA, formerly of Centreville, MD, died at her home, surrounded by her loving family on April 26, 2017.
She was born in 1931 to the late Charles and Martha Anthony. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park. Betty was a teacher in Prince William County for many years, serving at Dale City Elementary and Dumfries Elementary Schools. She was a devoted member of Centreville United Methodist Church where she volunteered and participated in the United Methodists Women's Club. She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) General Perry Chapter, and enjoyed researching genealogy.
Betty Lee is preceded in death by her first husband, Col. James L. Cooper, USMC RET; along with her second husband, Joseph A. Jackson; her brother, Charles E. Anthony Jr. and his wife Helene; and son-in-law, David W. Hudson.
She is survived by three daughters: Carol A. Morter (Wayne); Catherine C. Bergstrom; Cynthia S. Hudson; one son, James L. Cooper Jr. (Kathleen). Betty Lee is also survived by her six loving grandchildren: Gregory, Douglas, Stephen, James III, Samantha, and Meredith. She is also survived by her niece, Martha Anthony; and her nephew, Charles "Chuck" Anthony.
Family and friends will be received at Centreville United Methodist Church, 608 Church Hill Road, Centreville, MD 21617, on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 10-11 a.m. A Life Celebration service will begin immediately following the visitation at 11 a.m. Betty Lee will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband Col. James L. Cooper, USMC RET, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Centreville UMC.
