James Claybern Jernigan, age 80, of Wye Mountain, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. He was born February 28, 1937 in Wye Mountain, Arkansas, a son of Vernie Jernigan and Lillie Cline Jernigan. He was the widower of Virginia Sue Jones Jernigan. James was a mechanic and a member of Soul's Anchor Church.
He is survived by his sons, Alan Jernigan of Texarkana, Texas and Glenn Jernigan of Wye Mountain; and seven grandchildren. Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ray Jernigan and Leslie Jernigan.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Soul's Anchor Church with Sister Jean Zulpo officiating. Private burial at a later date. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
