06 May 2017 — Altoona Mirror

Francis Elizabeth Diskey, 83, Twin Falls, Idaho, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday.
She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late David Raymond and Hazel Lorena (Chronister) Edwards.
Surviving are a son, Stephan Thornsberry (Colletta) of Twin Falls, Idaho; three granddaughters: Melissa Myers, Tammy Thornsberry and Anne (Dan) Bistline; a grandson, Dustin Thornsberry in Indiana; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, all of Mountain Home, Idaho; a sister, Patricia of Altoona; six nieces: Linda, Barbara, Karen, Sharon, Debbie and Laurie; a daughter-in-law, Donna Idaho ; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Faust of Altoona. Preceded in death by her second husband, Delmer Thornsberry; a beloved son, Thomas; a brother, Raymond; a sister, Janet; and the love of her life, Gene Shuler.
Francis was an independent person her whole life, leaving home and making her own way in the world at a fairly young age. She had an amazing career, starting as a licensed practical nurse and continuing her education until she became a registered nurse, even teaching nursing students at one time. Her passion, however, was working in emergency rooms. She lived and worked in hospitals in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Florida and Idaho.
Francis loved her sons beyond measure and her life was happiest when spending time with them. She also loved to travel and spent many days on the road, either with friends and family or even alone. She went all the way across the United States, even into her 70s. While her son was stationed in Germany, Francis ventured there twice to visit him, his wife and her three granddaughters. These trips were taken with her true love in life, Gene. Although they never married, her heart was his until death.

She married Thomas Stoy and had a beloved son, Thomas Stoy-Thornsberry (Donna Thornsberry), who preceeded her in death. Later she married Delmer Thornsberry and had another son, Stephan Thornsberry (Colletta Thornsberry).
