James married Hannah Hembre Emory around 1827. They moved from White County, Tennessee, to Warren County, Tennessee, just before 1830. According to the 1850, Warren County, Tennessee, census, Hannah was probably born in South Carolina around 1802.
James and Hannah had at least three children:
Nancy E. Scurlock
Zachariah Henry Scurlock
Easther (Esther) P. Scurlock
Hannah and James lived most of their lives in Warren County, Tennessee and he apparently died there, sometime before November 13, 1850, when the census was taken, and Hannah died sometime around 1860. I am not sure right now as some believe by census records Hannah died in Jackson, Ohio.
