Doris Virginia Anderson was born in the Harris, Minnesota area on April 22, 1930, the first of four children born to Clarence and Victoria (Okerson) Anderson. When Doris was four years old, she moved with her parents to the Government Road north of Rush City. She attended grade school at District 23 (McKay School) and graduated from Rush City High School in 1948.
