Adele received a B.A. from The Ohio State University and went on to win the title of Miss Ohio in 1945 before marrying her first husband, the father of three of her children. She later attended F.I.T.
She began her career in public relations as Executive Public Relations Director of the Fontainebleu Hotel before founding Adele Martin Associates representing clients such as Tony Bennett, who called her his “Lucky Charm;” Frank Sinatra; Dean Martin; Johnny Mathis; Johnnie Ray & The Four Lads; Avis Hotels and Rent a Car; Copacabana Hotel and Casino/Hotel Nacional de Cuba; Tropicana Night Club in Havana, Cuba; Latin Quarter Nightclub in New York and Florida to name a few before retiring to remarry. After moving to Merrick, New York with her new husband, she gave birth to her fourth child, Peter Pober and started Adele Martin Fashion Design, where she created custom clothing and wedding gowns. Additionally, she penned a newspaper column on beauty and fashion and wrote numerous articles for multiple national publications.
Later in life, she became an award-winning, published interior designer. During this time, she met and married her third husband, whom she traveled the world with, cruising the seven seas and visiting all seven continents.
An ardent philanthropist and volunteer, Adele sat on numerous charitable boards, setting an example for her children to follow. Some of her pet charities included Star of Hope, City of Hope, Women in Distress, Volunteer Assistant Sherriff of Broward County, Hadassah and Temple Sholom, where she donated her time and money to redesign the synagogue lobby.
Adele was an avid reader and writer as well as a history buff, who loved traveling the world, taking cruises, dining and dancing, spending time at the country club, entertaining at home, painting, sculpting, the performing arts and collecting art from her trips around the globe.
She is predeceased by mother Fannie Miller Goldberg, father Mack Minzer, daughter Leslie Barron, husbands Russell K. Barron, Donald Pober and Sidney Ornstein as well as many lifelong friends.
She is survived by daughter Sherri Zucker, son Dr. Peter Pober, son-in-law Charles Farmer, granddaughters Brittany Zucker and Kimberly Barron, grandson Michael Barron, great grandchildren Christian and Brandon Barron, great grand-dog Max Zucker and her faithful companions Terrie Burley, Francis Burley and Bobbie Anderson.
Rest in peace dear mother and grandmother, you will always be in our hearts and souls.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 21st from 6-10pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Adele Minzer.
