Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Mary Amerling Nichols, 76, a former resident of Stanley, have been announced by the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley. Mrs. Nichols died Sunday afternoon at the Sunset Rest Home in Fairchild where she had been staying the past two years.

She was born Catherine Seidl in the town of Delmar on Sept. 29, 1885, the daughter of the Frank Seidl's. She married Herman Amerling in 1909 and he died in 1921. In 1946 she married James Nichols and he died in 1956. With the exception of the past two years in Fairchild and a short time in Eau Claire, Mrs. Nichols lived in Stanley all her life.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Mrcellaine) Thorpe of Stanley and three sons: Donald J. Amerling of Flint, Mich., Gerald of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Cyril of Wake Island. She is survived by four brothers, Peter and Frank of Stanley, George of Shakopee, Minn and Edward of Aurora, Minn., and six sisters; Mrs. Anna Theirl of Stanley, Mrs. Theresa Heinz of Milwaukee, Mrs. Clare Nitz, Milwaukee, Mrs. Lillian Jankoski, Stanley, Mrs. Emma Tucker, St. Paul, and Mr. Hedvig Wilkom, Boyd. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of St Ann's Church in Stanley and St Ann's Christian Mother's Society.

The remains will lie in state at the Plombon Funeral home in Stanley until Wednesday morning. Services will be held at S. Ann's at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with Fr. Edmund Cramer officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Plombon Funeral Home.
