Dorothy "Dottie" Armella Kliesen, age 85, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her home in Aurora.

Dottie was born on Jan. 23, 1932, in Plains, Kan., to John and Victoria (Herrman) Dreitz. She was one of four children.

On May 29, 1951, Dottie married the love of her life, Leon Kliesen, in Stratton. The couple was blessed with three children.

Dottie graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, Kan., in 1950. Dottie was a member of the Risen Christ Catholic Church in Denver. She enjoyed reading, sewing, skiing and hiking with friends in the mountains during her younger years.

Dottie is survived by her daughter Jody (Kliesen) Grosshans, and son-in-law Mike Grosshans, of Aurora, and son Dennis Kliesen, of Mission Viejo, Calif. Six surviving grandchildren - Chad, Shawn, Brent, McKenzie, Jennifer and Dawnielle, as well as several great-grandchildren.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Darrell; two brothers, Wilbert and Alvin; one sister, Mary; and a daughter-in-law, Mary.

Memorials are suggested to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund in Dottie's memory and may be sent to their address, 34 Washington St., Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481 or visit their website www.curealz.org to make a donation.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a "Recitation of the Rosary" beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. also to be held at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Norbert Dlabal, presiding.

Dottie will be laid to rest alongside her husband Leon in the Calvary Cemetery in Stratton.
