At time of death, he lived at 50 Pinckney Street, Boston. Samuel died of Tuberculosis. He is buried in the Allen family tomb, #145. This tomb was purchased by his 3rd Great Grandfather, The Reverend James Allen, Minister of First Church. The James Allen/Ebenezer Wells Tomb has the “oldest date on a tomb” in the Granary of 1667. James Allen (1632-1710), minister of the First Church, was “very humble and very rich.” He built this tomb and buried his three wives here. Many of his descendants are buried here, including Mary Allen, wife of Ebenezer Eaton and various members of their family. Mary Allen Eaton was the last family member buried in this tomb. She was later moved to the Kimball family plot on Mist Path at Mount Auburn.
