Carol, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, (formerly of Charlotte) passed away on April 23, 2017. She was born to Melvin and Sarah (Flikkie) Vaag.

Carol was a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of North Dakota and had a varied career path. Work began early for Carol, starting at a family business in Minnesota, Mel’s Drive-In. In Michigan, she worked for the Urban League of Lansing; was an Eaton County Job Placement Manager; a Foreign Exchange Student Coordinator; Entrepreneur-Piccadilly Mercantile in Bellevue; campground manager; and real estate agent in Sierra Vista.

And when she wasn’t working, she enjoyed crafting, scrap-booking, genealogy, traveling, the Red Hat Society, garage sales, Tupperware, and mostly spending time with her family. Carol had a very strong spirit and was able to persevere through her many health challenges.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul Johnson; sons, James Kirk, John (Randi) Johnson; step-daughters, Eileen (Jerry) Fhaner, Janette (Dan) Miller; step-son, Doug (Tom Alton) Johnson; grandchildren, Allison Kirk, Nicole (George) Shook, Heather (Brandon) Wilkey, Ryan (Dani) Miller, Willie Huhn, Kylie Copple (Skiland Judd); great-grandchildren, Lincoln Miller, Marshall Miller, Emma Moore, Kennedy Moore, Carson Wilkey, Joseph Wilkey, Sylis Judd, and Kaene Judd.

Funeral services were planned for Friday, May 5, 2017, at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. David Poole officiating.
Burial was in Center Eaton Cemetery, Charlotte, MI.

If desired, the family suggests an ‘honor gift’ to the American Liver Foundation.
