Rocklane Youth, 23, Is Dead After Road Wreck

Edgar Ray Dougherty, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dougherty of Rocklane, died Monday night at 11 o'clock in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he was taken after a motorcycle accident on Road 40 near Gem last Sunday, when he suffered serious injuries.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Rocklane Church conducted by the Rev. Charles Mull. Burial will be made in the Rocklane Cemetery.

The body will be brought to the Dougherty home Wednesday. Friends are invited to call and attend the funeral services.

Mr. Dougherty and his brother, Harold, were riding on their motorcycle Sunday on the highway near Gem when they were struck by an automobile. Both young men were injured, the automobile driver also.

Mr. Dougherty suffered a skull fracture and other injuries and never regained consciousness. His brother was painfully bruised and burned.

The deceased was born in Rocklane, October 24, 1914. In 1936 he was united in marriage to Miss Mildred Wells, who with two children, Joan and Ronald Ray, survive. They are living at present at Terre Haute.

Other survivors are the parents and five brothers, Harold, Raymond, Roland, Russell and Dale, and two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Angrick and Mrs. Frances Bennett, all of the Rocklane community.
