Obituary
MACHIAS - James E. Crooks, formerly of Park Square, Franklinville, died Sunday (April 16, 2017) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Machias.

Born on July 22, 1927, in Franklinville, he was a son of Frederick and Frances Silloway Crooks. On Jan. 29, 1949, in Franklinville, he married Evelyn Fischer, who survives.

Mr. Crooks served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later worked at Electrical Reactance in Franklinville and Acme Electric in Cuba. Afterwards he became a self-employed TV repairman and sold furniture, owning and operating Jim's TV of Franklinville for 45 years.

He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying.

Mr. Crooks attended the Jehovah Witness church in Arcade and was a member of VFW Post 9487, American Legion Post No. 526 and the IOOB No. 1517, all of Franklinville.

Surviving besides his wife, of Franklinville, is a daughter, Beth (John) Wymer of Great Valley; two sons, Jeffery (Wendy) Crooks and Bruce Crooks, both of Franklinville; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy McFadden of Little River, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Crooks; and a sister, Charlotte Martiny.

Burial will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville.
