Marion Taylor Freeman was born and raised on a farm east of Independence, IA on October 21, 1893. She attended rural school in Buchanan county, graduated from Independence High School, and took teacher's training at Cedar Falls and Ames, IA. She taught school in Independence, Spirit Lake, and rural schools until 1923. She was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Freeman on June 21, 1923 at her family's farm. They lived on farms in Buchanan County until 1950 and then near Sumner, IA until 1955. She and her husband operated a sundries store in Winthrop until retirement in 1965.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Winthrop, four children George of Sumner, IA; Dick of Knoxville; Kathryn Fawcett of Winthrop; and Earl of Waterloo, IA; fourteen grandchildren; two sisters Doris Taylor, Independence; Marjorie Hansen, Oelwein; and one brother, Claude Taylor, Independence; two nieces and two nephews; and many friends and neighbors.

She was a member of the Congregational Church, Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Friday, November 11th at People's Hospital in Independence, IA after a short illness.

Services for Mrs. Kenneth Freeman, age 73, will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Winthrop. A memorial fund has been established for the Congregational Church.
