"WELL KNOWN AS DRUGGIST MANY YEARS - George B W Brown Passes Away At Residence, North Monroe Street, Monday Forenoon - FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY - Announcement of the death of George B W Brown, which occurred at his residence, 313 North Monroe street, at 11:30 o'clock yesterday forenoon, came as a distinct shock to his wide acquaintance in this city and vicinity, because not many were aware that he was seriously ill. In fact, Mr Brown had not been ill only about three weeks and until about a week ago was about his home and out on the veranda. It had been about three weeks, however, since he had been down town. George B Walbridge Brown was the youngest child of Nathan and Caroline LaFevre Brown, pioneer residents of Jamestown, NY, and was born in that city where he spent his boyhood. He attended the public schools of the city and was graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Mr Brown came to Titusville to take a position with E K Thompson and for a short time was a partner of Dr Thompson. Later he engaged in business for himself, and for more than a generation conducted the drug store at the corner of Franklin street and Central avenue, which he sold about six years ago to Fred J Blinzig. Enjoyed Wide Acquaintance - Mr Brown was an excellent pharmacist and because of his accommodating manner and pleasant ways enjoyed a lucrative trade during his entire career in business. His acquaintance extended for many miles throughout this section and he was held in high esteem. Mr Brown was a member of Oil Creek lodge, F&AM, and served as treasurer for many years. While not a member, he attended the services at the First Presbyterian church. Mr Brown was united in marriage with Miss Blanche Antoinette White of this city, who survives him with one daughter, Mrs Clarence C Cook of Cincinnati, O. There are three grandchildren, Jane and Jean, twins, and Clarence Cook, Jr. Mr Brown was the last of his own family. The body of Mr Brown was prepared for interment at the E.L Cummins mortuary and will be taken to the residence, 313 North Monroe street, today. Funeral services in his memory will be conducted from the home on Wednesday at 11 am with Rev Dr Samuel Semple of the Presbyterian church officiating, and the interment will be made privately at the convenience of the family, in Woodlawn."
