Original notes from 2017 remain:

As I have been offline most of this year due to my own health issues (2017), and have just been informed of our dear FindaGrave friend Joseph Brentar's passing - I can't express in mere words what a pleasure and honor it was to know this gentleman. On FGrave, he continued to assist so many of us with our pages, questions, and other issues even as he battled terminal cancer; he very kindly sent private emails to me asking about the health of both myself and my son, Gannon. Now that I know that Joe was involved in MakeAWish, I see why he was so compassionate and interested in my son's day to day routine, and I would rant and rave about doctors one day, and nominate them for sainthood the next day, hopefully amusing Joe. It is an honor to manage and/or sponsor many of his family pages, and I know that when I told some of my site friends of Joe's passing, the first thing that every single person said was "You know, if his memorial page isn't up, R, you should do it, and do it right." Well, I hope that I am doing it right, and I hope that you will not only visit Joe, but his family members that will link on the site - there are so many heroes, wonderful stories, and lovely, lovely people to read about.

(The following from memorial notes within Joe's obituary):
Joe passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 16, 2017 after a brave and courageous 5 year battle with kidney cancer. Most cherished son of Ann B. (nee Muhic) and Joseph C. Brentar, Sr. (deceased); beloved brother to Joanne B. Hottois (husband John Peter) and Gerald C. Brentar whom he held in high esteem during his illness. If you loved and cared for Joey, he knew it and never forgot you. His generosity and sharing were awesome among others and the children of Make-A-Wish Foundation will enjoy his efforts. If you really knew Joey, you were fortunate. He had a zest for life and was a fighter to the end. He was proud of his Croatian Heritage. He took the most joy in spending time with family and friends, while he also loved traveling, especially cruises. Joey is also survived by aunts and cousins of the Brentar and Muhic families, and was loyal to countless friends including the Glynos family.

I would love to hear from friends and family of Joe, when they feel like getting in touch - this was a good man, a good friend, and a fighter that I so admired as he detailed his illness, his hopes and his options.

Peace and Hugs, Joe, and so, so much love.
