The marriage license index for Caldwell County, Texas, shows that William Jeff Squyres and Susan Ella Harl were married on December 23, 1875.

The grave marker for Mr. Squyres shows he died on November 8, 1898 and the grave marker for his daughter Jeffie shows she was born about two months later on January 2, 1899.

The 1900 Census shows Mrs. Susan Squyres was widowed, head of the household, and living in Stephens County, Texas with her children:
Claud A - son born 1882 in Texas
Rebecca L - daughter born 1889 in Texas
Clarence W -son born 1896 in Texas
Jeffie R - daughter born 1899 in Texas

The grave markers for Jeffie Squyres, Susan Squyres, William Squyres, and John Squyres are located side by side in Section O, Block 1, Lots 1 - 4 in the Breckenridge Cemetery. Originally the contributor was unable to document the relationship between William Squyres and John Squyres. Later a contributor requested a link to Rachel Squyres as the mother of William Squyres. Her replacement marker shows Rachel to be the wife of John Squyres.

The persons listed as half siblings are William Jefferson's Squyres biological full siblings: Eliza, Joel, Rebecca, Riley and Mattie. They are listed in the 1860 Census in the household of John Squyres, Beat 1, Anderson County, Tx with Rachael, their mother. My great grandmother was their eldest child, Eliza Squyres Wilson (1845-1889).
