Retired from Chemical Leman Inc.
Orris L. Waite, 78, formerly of Saltillo, died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 1996, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born Oct. 10, 1917, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mabel (Gress) Waite. He was married to the former Ruby M. Rowe on Jan. 1, 1939, in Orbisonia. He is survived by his wife, at Orbisonia; one daughter, Judy W. Thomas, Huntingdon; one son, Richard O. Waite, Burnt Cabins; one brother, Mahlon Waite, Huntingdon and four grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mr. Waite was preceded in death by one brother, Blaine Waite. Mr. Waite was a member of the Dublin Mills Community Church. He was also a member of the Madden-Wennick Post 518 American Legion, Rockhill Furnace and the Blue Juniata Post American Legion of Mount Union. An avid hunter and fisherman, he retired in 1975 from Chemical Leman Inc. of Duncansville after serving 26 years. He was also a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Pastor Richard Stoey officiating. Interment will be in the Orbisonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
