Sarah Jane is the daughter of Mary Ann (Robinson) Blair and William Perry Blair. Sarah was born in Mansfield, Ohio on September 17, 1852. When Sarah was three years of age, she moved with her parents and siblings to Leon, Decatur County, Iowa. On September 8, 1867, Sarah married Amos T. Royce. Sarah was one week shy of being 15 years old. Sarah and Amos had six children, two of whom died in infancy. The four living children were Willabelle, Albert, Effie May, and Lulu. Royce, Sarah's husband, was a railroad contractor. Sarah died April 23, 1925, at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Monte Vista, Colorado. Sarah's husband, Royce, predeceased Sarah. At the time of Sarah's death, three of her children, Effie, Albert, and Willabelle, survived her.
