Basil E Burton Sr 77, 222 South Oriental Street, a retired hardwood floor installer, died Sunday at University Heights Hospital. Born in Bedford, he lived in Indianapolis most of his life. He was a self-employed floor installer for more than 50 years, retiring in 1975. He was also part owner of the B and D Tavern 35 years. Services will be held 1 pm Wednesday in Wilson-St Perrie Chapel of the Chimes, with burial in Washington Park East Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mammie Burton, three sons, Maurice Burton of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jack Burton of Indianapolis and Basil Burton Jr of Indianapolis and a daughter Mrs. Carmon Hatton of Indianapolis
