Helen Dovel Landis, 86, of McGaheysville, passed away, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Sentara RMH Medical Center. She was born February 14, 1931 in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Homer Franklin Linzor and Hettie Lam Dovel.

On April 17, 1954 she married Ervin Landis, who preceded her in death on August 9, 1995.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by, her brothers, Russell, Elwood ,Noah & Jesse Dovel.

Helen worked at Bluebell and later retired from Camelot. After her retirement she worked at the bakery in Costco and was a cafeteria monitor at McGaheysville Elementary School . She was a member of Soul's Harbor Church.

She is survived by, daughters, Sandra Landis of Harrisonburg, Arnetta Landis of North Carolina; two brothers, Elbert Dovel and Homer "Leo" Dovel; one sister, Ruth Landis; grandchild, Michelle Shifflett and husband, Brad; great-grandchild, Brandon Shifflett.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

Funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Soul's Harbor Church near Elkton with Rev. Corey Herod and Rev. Robert Shepherd officiating. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
