Eloise Jensen, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at her home at Fairwinds-Sand Creek, exactly 2 weeks before her 97th birthday. Thank you to One Source Home Health and Hospice for her care during the last days.

Eloise “Ellie” Jensen was born in Centralia, Kansas, on May 2, 1920, to Richard and Grace Lohmuller. She had two younger brothers, Richard (Dick) and Robert (Bobby). After graduating high school, Ellie attended Hay’s teacher’s college and then taught 8 grades in a one room schoolhouse for two years. During World War II, she decided to move to Oakland, California, to work for the Maritime Commission. It was there that she met (on a blind date) a young man named Jack Jensen. Jack and Ellie married in 1946 and moved to Idaho to help work his family’s business. They established and ran their successful home building business, Jack Jensen Construction, together for many years.

Their only child, Linda, was born in 1949.

Ellie was an avid fisherwoman and golfer, serving 2 years as President of the Women’s Golf Association at Pinecrest. She and Jack were charter members of the Idaho Falls Country Club. She loved to play bridge and was an excellent player throughout her entire life.

After she and Jack divorced in 1972, Ellie moved to Denver, where Linda lived. There she worked for Shakey’s Pizza corporate offices and later for ViCorp, finally retiring at age 72. She took many trips to lots of wonderful parts of the world.

After retirement, she returned to Idaho Falls. She and her late companion, Rolfe, spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona, and took more great trips to Alaska, Baja Mexico, and other fun places. She had a long and adventuresome life.

Ellie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Hill, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her “grandson by choice”, Jack (Madison) Elliott, and his parents, Caryn and Scott Elliott. She had many wonderful friends who will miss her as well.

In lieu of flowers a donation in her honor to the Idaho Falls Senior Citizen’s Center at 535 W 21st Street, 83402 would be appreciated.

There will be a celebration of Ellie’s life from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Idaho Falls Country Club, 11611 South Country Club Drive, Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
