Bobby was born to August and Orlean Tirpitz. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vivian and had been ordained a deacon by Mooringsport Baptist Church in 1958. He worked as an operator for UOP. He loved motorcycles and to hunt and fish. Like his mother, he never met a stranger and loved visiting with everyone.
The last time my brother, Don Holt, and I saw him was at a restaurant in Ida, LA, and we had a good visit there. Bobby and his brother, "Poochie", were musicians and that's how I met them, as part of my brother's band when they were in high school. Bobby played steel guitar and Poochie played the piano and accordion. My brother was vocalist and played rhythm guitar and they used to practice at our house in Vivian. I loved those days!
He is preceded in death by his parents and five sisters, Lucy Hack, Pauline Stanfield, Edna Link, Billy Fay Scott, and Doris Mouser. He's survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores Hamiter Tirpitz of Vivian and one son, Kevin and wife Donna, of Montgomery, TX. He is also survived by two brothers, Morris Tirpitz and wife, Helen, of Shreveport, LA, and Carl Tirpitz of Baton Rouge, LA. There are also three granddaughters, Krispen Tirpitz, Charly and Brittany Hollier.
Pallbearers were the men of First Baptist Church of Vivian.
