Carl lived in South Dakota and Browning, Texas before moving to Blackfoot, Idaho.
He went to school until the 9th grade before deciding to serve his country by enlisting in the Army.
He worked as a police officer for Oglala Sioux Tribes and ShoBan Tribes.
Carl upheld Native American traditions while practicing Catholicism.
Carl is survived by his children, Carla and Carleen Crazy Thunder both of Pocatello, ID and Neil Crazy Thunder of Lander, WY; brother, William Crazy Thunder of Riverton, WY; sisters, Patricia Franco of California, Mary Crazy Thunder of Wisconsin, and Josephine Crazy Thunder of Kyle, SD; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes Crazy Thunder; brothers, Nick Crazy Thunder, Frank Crazy Thunder, Dave Crazy Thunder, Clemet Crazy Thunder, and Harold Crazy Thunder; sisters, Helen Wilson, Irene Tibbitts, and Emma Henson; half sister, Celane Not Help Him; half brother, Narcisse Ten Fingers; and nephew, David Crazy Thunder
