Roger Neal Carpenter 88 died Saturday April 15, 2017. He was born November 4, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Carl and Dorthea Carpenter. Roger was raised in Ft. Wayne and graduated from North Side High School as a Redskin. He served his country in the Marine Corps. 1947 – 1949 and then joined the Army was discharged with honors in 1952. Roger was married to Alice Joan Darnell in 1954 and she preceded him in death in 2004. He worked for Tokheim, John Dehner Construction as a bookkeeper 1962-1989 and several other jobs followed to avoid retirement.

Surviving are his children; Candy Eastman, Lisa (George) Gerdes, Tammie (Gary) Hake, Tina Carpenter, Tracey Carpenter, Amy Gabbard, Neil Carpenter, blessed with 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a host of friends @ the VFW post 5582 in Columbia City. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Colleen Overmier, Gloria Cour twright, Janice Crandall, a brother Dan Carpenter and a granddaughter Jenny Meek and grandson Scott Hartman and a son-in-law Jerry Eastman

Military honors will be rendered at 2:00 p.m. Friday April 21, 2017 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with viewing from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
