Jack L. Winslade, DVM, 91, of Washington, Indiana died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at his residence.

Jack was born in Shipman, Illinois, the youngest of five children, to William J. and Winnie (Archer) Winslade.

He attended Iowa State University, where he received his degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. During his senior year he enlisted in the Army Reserves and soon after graduation he was called to active duty in the Army. For two years he was meat inspector for the Army at Armour and Co. Packing. The next year, after being promoted from Lieutenant to Captain, he was veterinary officer in charge at Swift and Co.

After military service he returned to southwestern Illinois where he established a private veterinary practice for large and small animals for 17 years. In 1963 he was appointed as the district veterinarian with the Animal Health Division of the USDA. In 1966 he was promoted to area supervisor and transferred to Washington, Indiana. He retired from the USDA on Dec. 31, 1988. Jack was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the American Legion and Masonic Lodge No. 32.

After a previous marriage ended, he married Mrs. Dolores (Rodgers) Bullman on June 10, 1967.

Survived by a son William; and a daughter Cynthia.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and his wife, Dolores.
