She was born August 30, 1918 to Frank and Margaret (Onken) Bartels in San Jose, Illinois. She married Wayne Behrends on October 6, 1941 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in rural San Jose.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Behrends; one son, Ron Behrends, Mason City; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
