COURY - Victor M., PHD, 87, of Bartlett, TN died November 11, 2008. He was born in Skiatook, OK on November 23, 1920. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Bristow, OK in 1938. He received his BA from Cardinal Glennon College, St. Louis, MO in 1942, and attended Kenrick Theological Seminary, St. Louis, MO until 1945. Victor was ordained a Catholic priest on June 2, 1945, and served at St. Francis Xavier Parish. He was founder and pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Tulsa where he served for more than ten years. He graduated from Memphis State University with an MA in 1964 and in 1966 received his doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia. He joined the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry where he served as Professor and Chairman of the Dept. of Behavioral Science. He retired from UT College of Dentistry after 23 years. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Suzy Y. Coury; his parents, Abdo and Sophie (Abraham); his brothers, Malleck G. Coury and Philip P. Coury; and his sisters, Ruth Coury and Pauline Cox. He is survived by: his sons, Dr. Daniel L. Coury and wife Dr. Nancy Hansen of Columbus, OH and Michael P. Coury and wife Cynthia of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Ashley, Katherine, Danielle and Christopher Coury; 14 nephews and nieces including Mal Coury, Susan Stowe, Nancy Lambros, Stephen Coury, Mary Mondloch, Carolyn Carroll, Paul Coury and Annette Moore; and his close friends Frank and Diane Brown and Patricia McDonald. Pictures of Victor's life will be available at www.mem.com. Visitation will be on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. and service will be Saturday, November, 15th at 10 a.m., both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa, OK.
