RUSHVILLE - Wilhelmina Alice Grosclaude Howell, 94, of Placerville, Calif., formerly of Rushville, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, July 14, 1997, at Placerville Pines Convalescent Hospital.

Born May 18, 1903, in Schuyler County to Charles Christian and Elsie May Hetrick Grosclaude, she married Dwight Kenneth Howell on June 2, 1930, in Beason. He died June 5, 1982.

Surviving are one son; one daughter,; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She attended Illinois State Normal University and the University of Illinois.

She taught at Fey School in rural Rushville and at schools in Watseka. She was assistant superintendent for schools for Stark County in Toulon for four years and taught at Hensley School in Champaign, retiring in 1966. She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a volunteer at Schuyler Jail Museum.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rushville City Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Thomich will officiate. There will be no visitation. Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center.
