Evangelina Tillie Ortega - Pueblo Chieftain - October 22, 1998 - Evangelina Tillie Ortega died in Boca Raton, Fla., at Hospice by the Sea" on Oct. 9, 1998. Tillie was born in Hoehne, Colo., but she lived and worked in Pueblo most of her life. In 1992 she moved to Florida to live and be with her only child, Pauline and son-in-law. She was an avid sports fan and the Broncos were her number one team. But she still followed baseball, hockey and the rest of sports faithfully. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and didn't care to be bothered with anything during these programs. Tillie was a hardworking woman who had to be busy. She also was a very special and caring person who had a strong spirit who believed there was good in everyone. She had also intended to come back home to Colorado to live with her daughter. She missed her mountains. Beloved and devoted mother of Pauline (Russ) Rickert. Adored grandmother of grandsons, Chuck (Tina) Pinida, Richard (Dana) Rickert Jr., Ronald (Jenny) Rickert, Matt (Dawn) Rickert, one step-granddaughter, Jennifer Payne. Loving great-grandma to Jonathan Pinida Morgan and Hannah and Brenden Rickert, Kaylie Rickert and Brittany H. Payne. Survived also by brothers, Max (Flora) Trujillo and Dan (Josie) Trujillo- and sisters, Josie Cordova, Jennie (John) Chacon and Rose Barela. She had numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be sadly missed by all. Mass and s will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Pueblo. Another Mass will be held at 3:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. She will be buried next to her brother, E.J. (Skip) Trujillo. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Tillie Ortega to Hospice by the Sea, 1580 N.W. 2nd Ave., Suite 6, Boca Raton, Fla. 33432. Family and friends will be received following the s at St. Patrick Hall.
