Daughter of Louis A. Runge and Jennie Bullard, she graduated from Central High School, then attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi for two years, then transferred to University of Tennessee, Knoxville, graduating in May, 1952. She had a brother, William Louis Runge, 1935-1997.
She married George Thomas Reaves, and they had 4 children, Michael, Jennie, Susan and William.
Kathryn had a beautiful singing voice. She lived in North Carolina for many years, employed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, and later by Home Insurance Company.
She and her husband divorced. She moved to Tucson in 2004.
