Robert L. "Bobby" Carter, 76, of Port Royal, Ky., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007.

He was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Port Royal, Ky., the son of Olynthus and Catherine Carter. He lived in Port Royal all of his life. He was an Army veteran. He began work for General Electric in 1955 and retired 33 years later.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Coots Carter; a daughter and her husband, Vanessa and Wayne Looney of Rocky Gap, Va.; two sons, Kline Carter and his wife, Jamey, and Stacey Dean Carter, all of Port Royal, Ky.; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Helen Yager; one sister-in-law, Brenda Moore; and one stepgrandson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg, Ky. Burial will be in Port Royal Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday.

Robert L. "Bobby" Carter, age 76 of Port Royal, died Friday, January 26, 2007. He was the son of the late Olynthus and Catherine Carter, a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from General Electric after 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Helen Carter, Port Royal; one daughter: Vanessa Looney and husband, Wayne, Rocky Gap, VA; two sons: Kline Carter and wife, Jamey and Stacey Carter , all of Port Royal; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one step grandson, Kevin Looney.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 31st) at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg. Rev. Ron Laughlin, pastor of the Port Royal Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Port Royal Cemetery.
