T. V. Elliott Rites Were Held On Tuesday
Thomas Verne Elliott, 46. was born October 21, 1906, on a farm in Ray county about seven miles northeast of Lawson, MO, the son of Jacob C. and Sarah J. Elliott.
Mr. Elliott lived his entire life in the Lawson community. He passed away at his home in Lawson on March 28, 1953.
He attended the Graham school northeast of Lawson.
He obeyed the Gospel of Christ at the Bethlehem Church in Ray county at the age of 16.
September 11, 1926, he married Nellie Lena Mayes. To this union four children were born.
Mr. Elliott was an active contractor for many years and took part in many community activities.
He leaves to survive him, his wife, Nellie Elliott, of the home; two sons, Randall Elliott of Rayville, Mo.; and Lowell C. Elliott of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Paul McKee of Rayville, Mo.; and Yvonne Darlene Elliott of the home; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Elliott of Richmond, MO; one sister, Mrs. Viola Bowman of Independence, Mo.; two brothers, J. O. Elliott of Superior, Mont.; and D.M. Elliott of Richmond, Mo.; three grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on March 31 at the Church of Christ in Excelsior Springs, Mo. The Rev. James Truitt of Bethany conducted the funeral services. Music was furnished by a quartet of singers: Ima Jean Commer, Mrs. Kenneth Van Deusen, Robert Arms, and Hubert Long.
Burial was in the Sandals cemetery about ten miles northeast of Lawson.
Active pallbearers were George Rhodus, Carl White, Leonard Utt, Monroe Teegarden, Jim Boswell, and Vester Sweatman.
Honorary pallbearers included T. D. Williamson, Foy Fowler, Dewey Cavender, R. E. Hartman, Lynn Nolker, J. C. Hartman, List Peppard, George Sexton, E. L. Brown, and Lawrence Estill.
