He moved to Northwest Ohio when he was a junior in high school. Alan graduated from Hamler High School and served 8 years in the Army Reserves. He was employed for several years with Campbell Soups in Napoleon and was later employed for many years by Lehn and Fink of Toledo as a quality control technician involved in the production of the Lysol family of products.
An active member most known for his service as a Youth Leader at Trinity Lutheran Church, Toledo, and for the last 25 years, he was a member of Calvary Church. Alan also served as chaplain at the Lucas County Jail for nearly three decades. He was a photographer for many weddings, confirmations and graduations.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Arps) Burow; Children, Anita (James) Quackenbush of Maumee, Ohio; Becky (Chris) Girton of Zanesville, Ohio; Timothy (Mina) Burow of Lubbock, Texas and Beth (Robert) Meinen of Bowling Green, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Daniel of Minneapolis, Minnesota and sister, Carol Graham of Rotonda, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Ralph, Milton and Dorothy.
Family and friends will be received at Calvary Church, 1360 Conant St., Maumee, OH on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday at the church at 10:00 AM.
