June Horne Hammond, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord and her loving husband on his birthday, Friday, April 7, 2017.
June was born on March 23, 1924 in Russell County, Virginia to the late, Wade and Ruby Vanderpool Horne. She was a graduate of Temple Hill High School and was Miss Castlewood in 1941. June loved the Lord whom she served all her life. She opened her heart and home to all she loved. June was an honorable wife, sacrificial mother and grandmother. She gave all she had through every trial, she made life sweeter because of her smile. She Loved, She Loved!
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ewell Jessee Hammond, brother; Fred Horne; granddaughter, Shelli White.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandra McAmis, Deborah White (Donnie) and Rhonda Wood (Garry); grandchildren, Traci Price (Doug), Tonia Armstrong (Jason), Jason White, Lance McAmis (Julie), Ashley Hagood, Aaron Wood (Amber); great-grandchildren, Cody Price (Shyan), Chelsie Calhoun (Dillion), Jacob Armstrong, Jared White, Caleigh Price (Dustin), Emily Armstrong, Haley White, Tyler Hagood, Zack Armstrong, Carrigan White, Malia McAmis, Ayden Wood, Kelton McAmis, Abram Wood and Ilana McAmis; great-great grandchildren, Mason, Raelyn and Nolan Price, Madison Calhoun, Colton White, and Jessee Day. A Graveside Service will follow in Mausoleum III at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason White, Lance McAmis, Aaron Wood, Jared White, Zackery Armstrong, Jacob Armstrong, Cody Price, Tyler Hagood, Dillion Calhoun, and Dustin Day.
