John Andrew Roller, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2017 at home in Celina, Texas. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him, called him "Sonny", "Grand Dad" or "Paw-Paw-Judge". John was an avid reader, crossword puzzler, a fount of military and weapons history, a great cook and sharp-shooter. John was fondly known as "The Wheels of Justice".

John was born August 30, 1933 in Celina, Texas to John A. Roller and Lylan Stone Roller. He attended public school in Celina and Sherman, Texas. He served in the US Navy on board the U.S.S. Pickaway from 1950-1954 during the Korean War. A 1954 auto accident caused a spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia at the age 21. He was elected Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Collin County, Texas, January 1, 1963, where he served in that capacity until December 31, 1998. He was a City Judge for Municipal Court, City of Celina 1970-1987, tax assessor-collector for City of Celina 1974-1979, City Judge, Municipal Court, The Colony 1986-1991. He was City Judge for Municipal Court Eastvale 1986-1988. In service training was completed at Lamar University, Texas A&M and Southwestern University in San Marcos, Texas. John was a Past Worshipful Master of the Celina Masonic Lodge 919. He was able to enjoy an active life despite 62+ years of wheelchair confinement. To God be the glory!

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Roller Allen and son-in-law, Dr. Todd Linstrum.

He is survived by his devoted caregiver wife of 30 years, Beatrice Roller; children, Cheryl Roller Jacoby and husband Pete, Belinda Linstrum, David Barnes and wife LeeAnn, Daniel Barnes; grandsons, CJ Foust, Zachery Barnes and wife Rose, Joshua Barnes, Drew Cattell and wife Rebecca; granddaughters, Holly Barnes, Morgan Barnes Adcock and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren, Christian and Conner Foust, Sammy Serna, and Olivia Barnes; nephews, John Allen and wife Leticia, Joe Hollingsworth and wife Donna; nieces, Bonnie Bass and husband Doyle, Laura Taylor and Amanda Allen; a host of many other loving relatives and friends.

The family gives special thanks to all our family caregivers and to VA Dallas Hospital, Dr. Maria Fides M. Pacheco and Nurse Jeff Caldwell for their many years of care and to Compass Hospice aides, nurses and staff.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 13th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Celina. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 14th at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Celina, with burial following at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas.

Pallbearers are Tom Pingleton, Jerry Lehew, Ben Choate, Bob McKnight, Kyle Robinson, Ed Entrop, Randy Grumbles and George Kendrick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Building Fund of First Baptist Church in Celina, 841 N. Preston Road, Celina, Texas 75009.
