Bonnie Jean (Andrews) Dodson, 91 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. The daughter of Estel Carl and Anna Louise (Dickey) Andrews, Bonnie was born on April 26, 1925 in Keokuk, Iowa. Bonnie grew up on the family farm in Fayette, Missouri, later moving to New Franklin and eventually to Lancaster, where she graduated from high school. On August 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to John Robert Dodson and to this union three children were born. Bonnie and John Robert built the Plaza Motel, operating it for 23 years before retiring in 1983.

Bonnie was a faithful member of the Lancaster Christian Church and was active in CWS for as long as her health permitted. Bonnie had a heart of gold. She loved to cook and was known for making her special fudge, divinity, pies and cakes and sharing them with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family. She was a loving wife and grandmother.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Joe Dodson and wife, Vicki of Nevada, Iowa, Judy Peterson and husband, Dwight of Lancaster, Missouri and Joy Anderson and husband, Jeff of Hartford, Missouri; grandchildren; great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, June Sanford of El Paso, Texas; nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Susan Koenen of Unionville, Missouri and Claetta Ward of Coatsville, Missouri and other family members. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Robert on February 27, 2016; two brothers, Dick Andrews and her twin, Bill Andrews; son-in-law, John Steele; great grandson, Stryker Anderson and her little dog, Laci.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Sam Houston assisted by Commander David Peterson and Billy Wallace officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Margie Tippett and soloists Cole Tippett and Beth Withrow. Special musical selections will be "Suppertime" and "In The Garden." Pallbearers will be Jim Bonnell, Robert Watkins, Phil Beeler, Dennis Starrett, Travis Harris and Dave Hartsock. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Mulvaney, John Tippett, Charles Beeler, Mark Smyser and the Deacons of the Lancaster Christian Church.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for Arni Memorial Cemetery. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
