James Wilkie Burns, 76, of Gray Court, husband of Marian Woods Burns, died April 9, 2017.
Born in Woodruff, he was the son of the late Raymond and Estelle Wilkie Burns.
James had been Assistant to the Chief at the Greenville Law Enforcement Center. He enjoyed farming and breeding Labrador Retrievers. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 56 years, include three children, Anthony Burns (Marilyn), Candace B. McCraw (Alan), and Andy Burns (Allison); four grandchildren, Allie Burns, Courtney Johnson (Devin), Connor McCraw (Dusti), and Logan McCraw; and four sisters, Edna Brown (Ray), Nell Brown (Bill), Marie Baskins, and Shirley Scott (Don). He was predeceased by a sister Margaret Osborne.
Burial: Beulah Baptist Church cemetery.
