Charles Eugene Farmer, 92, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, IN, with his daughter at his side. Charles was born June 27, 1924, to Gilbert and Paulina (Brandenburg) Farmer.

Charles was a graduate of Hardinsburg High School, and was among the last World World II Veterans in Greene County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his wife were owners of Farmer’s Shoe store for more than 25 years. He was a member of Bloomfield First Baptist Church for 60 years where he had previously served as deacon.

Charles is survived by his son Geoffrey (Kamela) Farmer of Cory IN, and daughter Pam (Kevin) Schultz, Bloomfield/Colorado, Grandchildren Skylar (Jessica) Gambill, Keaton Gambill, Garren Schultz, Caleb (Ryn) Farmer, Matthew (Anna) Farmer, Joel (Terry) Farmer, Lydia Farmer, Darius Farmer, Phoebe Farmer, and Nathan Farmer, 3 great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Marie (Peters) Farmer, and their newborn son, Gary Dean Farmer. Also, preceding him were his parents, brothers Earl, Raymond, Clyde, and a sister Kathleen Farmer Lewman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bloomfield First Baptist Church on Monday April 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Nathan Brooks officiating, friends may gather from 1 P.M. until the hour of service at the Church.
