According to her obituary, she was first educated in schools at Fish House and Amsterdam, and then went on to the Albany, NY Female Academy. She spent her last few years living with her son, Louis Akin, on the farm near Mt. Etna, Hardin, Iowa. She died in the farm house of old age. Funeral services were conducted at the farm house by Rev. David Ferguson, rector of the Episcopal Church of Creston, Hardin, Iowa. Her son, Louis, accompanied the body back to NY to be buried at Tribes Hill Cemetery next to her husband.
A newspaper article describes her as having red hair and many freckles.
