Their son, David Nelson Otto, had been born 14 September 1920. Harry and Ethel divorced in October 1921; her parents William N. Sweeney and Cynthia Ellen Warmoth Sweeney applied at the same time to adopt their grandson, David Otto. David Nelson Otto died 25 March 1996 in Los Angeles County, California.
