Born on October 4, 1927 to G.W. and Alice Crouse, Winfred was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He served as pastor of seven different Quaker churches in North Carolina, ending a career pastorate of 50 years in 2007, after which he served several church interim positions.
Winfred loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially for holiday celebrations. He found great delight in the birth of each grandchild and great-grandchild. He also enjoyed visiting family members as often as possible.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Jean McCluskey Crouse; sons Mike Crouse and wife Pam of Yadkinville, and Bruce Crouse and wife, Ellen, of Snow Camp; five grandchildren, Hope C. Talley (Greg), Dana C. Thames (Daniel), Lance Crouse (Emily), Brock Crouse, and Kerry Crouse; four great-grandchildren Leanna Tally, Ethan Tally, Isaac Thames, and Sydney Thames. He is also survived by a sister, Peggy C. Minor of Newport, North Carolina.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel.
