There is some question on the spelling of Palatiah's given name. Most records show it as posted here, but the 2nd record show here spells it with an "e"; Pelatiah.

Palatiah's 25 July 1862 Army Enlistment document described him as 5' 11", and married with blue eyes, Light hair and complexion. He was rejected for service at that time.

He did enlist in Company B, 8th Regiment, 26 Maine Infantry Volunteers 10 September 1862, was mustered 11 October 1862 and killed at the battle of Cold Harbor 03 January 1864. This record described him as 5' 10", Married, a Mechanic, Blue eyes, with light complexion and hair. His wife's name is unknown at this time.

He was married to Mary Olive Manning, daughter of Ephram and Annie Richards Manning. Mary died 10 April 1869 at Lincolnville, ME. They had 4 children: Minnie Abbie Fernald Simmons b. 13 Apr 1854 at Lincolnville: Summer Creed born 07 November 1856, Lincolnville: Lewis Edgar born16 September 1858 at Searsmont: Charles Nelson Palatiah born 04 June 1862 at Searsmont.
