Virginia was born May 13, 1923 in Long Beach, CA. On August 10, 1940, she married her sweetheart, Jack Bennett in Randsburg, CA. Prior to her marriage she had worked as a typesetter at Hubbards Printing Co - the beginnings of The Daily Independent. After their marriage, Jack and Virginia opened a garage where the fire station is located now, and had their first child. In the 40s they built a log cabin in the Piute Mountains and also built a home in San Bernardino, where a second daughter was born.
In 1960 their lives brought them back to the valley they loved, and they built a new home south of Inyokern, CA. Virginia got a job at the Neighborhood Market, where she was able to help build the first gas station/market combination in Ridgecrest, CA. She was a grocery clerk and general manager of the market until her retirement.
Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Jerry Hirsch of Inyokern, CA; daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Charlie Cass of Ridgecrest, CA; sister MaryAnna Jenny of San Luis Obispo, CA; grandchildren Laura Warner of Luddington, MI; Brian Cass and family of Fresno, CA; Denise Cass and family of Ridgecrest; Steven Cass of Ridgecrest; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
